I’m New

Welcome to Takoma Park Presbyterian Church!

We are a diverse, joyful community of people seeking to follow Christ's example of love and acceptance. Our church family includes people of all ages, ethnicities, and cultures, and we hope that you can join us as a guest, frequent visitor, or member of the community. As a More Light Congregation, we welcome gay, lesbian, bisexual, heterosexual, and transgender people in everything we do.

Learn more about our congregation by accessing our newcomer's brochure (PDF).

What to Expect

Sunday worship begins at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary, where ushers will be ready to greet you and answer any questions. Adult Bible Discussion Group meets every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor (Education Building can be accessed through Maple Ave. entrance).

We use inclusive language in hymns, prayers, and Scripture lessons, and feel free to make your own substitutions as you join us in worship.

The main church building has a wheelchair ramp on the Maple Avenue side of the church, and an elevator to access every floor. The church office, located on the ground floor of the Patti Memorial Gymnasium on Tulip Avenue, can be accessed from a sidewalk along the side of the building.

Access our Getting Around TPPC page for a map of our buildings and directions to the church sanctuary and meeting rooms.

For Our Littlest Ones

A nursery is available 10:45-12:15 a.m. in the Teddy Bear room for infants and children up to four years of age. We provide free, skilled childcare for infants and toddlers each Sunday morning in our nursery.

Little ones are also welcome to stay with you in worship, and there is a changing table and rocking chair in the room beside the elevator outside the Sanctuary. There are books to share with your children in the back of the Sanctuary, but we ask that you don't leave them unattended.

For Children

Worship includes a "Time with Children" when children and youth are invited to the front of the church for a moment of message and fellowship. This is followed by Sunday School upstairs for ages elementary through high school aged youth.

For Youth

The Cooperative Youth Ministry is a partnership between Takoma Park Presbyterian Church (TPPC) and Christ Congregational Church (CCC) in Silver Spring. It provides a structure for children in grades 6-12 to have fellowship and fun with their peers in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Your Child’s Safety

Your child’s safety, security, and well-being are our utmost concern. With that in mind we have recently updated our Child Protection Policy (PDF). All our staff and regular volunteer teachers are required to pass a background check but more importantly are trained in processes to assure your child’s well-being whether in the classroom, on outings, service projects or anywhere in the church setting. Copies of the policy are available in the back of the church or online by clicking here.
